The ASI e-Course, ASI Training Online provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and support materials required to correctly administer the ASI, and utilize the information collected clinically to inform diagnosis and diagnostic impressions using the DSM-5, level of care recommendations using the ASAM Criteria, criminogenic risk assessments and treatment planning.
While, understanding the relationship of the information collected using the ASI to these clinical tasks is important, it is often a missing component of standard two and three day onsite ASI training workshops. Teaching clinicians and counselors how to administer the ASI, without teaching them the clinical significance of the information collected, results in a workforce focused on filling in boxes and completing mandated paper work that has little to no value to them.
The ASI e-Course is an evidenced based and proven effective adult learning solution that leverages the advantages of web based training, while incorporating the content and methods of a proven and effective ASI curriculum developed to train interviewers on the correct administration of the ASI.

On March 1st, 2007, I attended a three day training for certification in the ASI. I completed my first ASI in May 2007. For my job I am required to complete an ASI at the Presentence Phase for all Senate Bill 123 Clients and make a recommendation to the court.
My Director, Michael Knapp decided to take the training and talked me into taking the online course with him, as a refresher. I am so glad that I took advantage of this class. I learned a lot of different things that I did not learn with my first course.
It was nice to be able to take your time and complete the course as time permitted, and you could go back and refresh yourself while you were working on the modules. One of the simplest questions, What is your marital status? I wasn't getting right. I was never told to consider additional probing on this question.
Overall I thought this was a very good program and a good refresher course for me.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for your assistance to my staff and myself during our ASI Online Course. Your prompt replies to our questions ensured minimal disruption, and ensured a smooth flow throughout the course. I would like to provide some feedback to you on my experience regarding the course. I have participated in many online seminars and training's throughout my career, and would have to say this is one of the best courses. The course is laid -out well, is very easy to navigate, and was on point for the topic. The ability to go back to a video and replay it is invaluable. The resource material that was provide throughout is relevant to the topic and easy to access. The ability to go back and forth to the different modules to access information was also very helpful. I have, and will continue to, recommend this course to colleagues, and I will definitely utilize this course again for further staff training.
